My Reiki journey
Reiki found me at a time when my life was already full of transformation.
After the birth of my fourth child, something within me shifted. Amid the exhaustion, the softness, and the complete unravelling that comes with motherhood, I felt a quiet pull toward energy healing—a sense that there was something deeper I was meant to reconnect with. Reiki became a lifeline, a grounding thread, and a reminder of who I was beneath all the roles I held. But it wasn’t until my fifth child arrived—born in June, during a season of warmth and renewal—that I truly began to embrace Reiki as my calling. Throughout my maternity leave, in those hazy, love‑soaked days with a newborn in my arms, I kept seeing cinnabar moths. Everywhere. Gliding through the garden, landing on windowsills, crossing my path at moments that felt too aligned to be accidental. Their vivid red and black wings felt like a message.
The deep red reminded me instantly of the Root Chakra—our foundation, our sense of safety, our connection to the earth. As a mother of five, grounding wasn’t just symbolic; it was essential. And the cinnabar moth itself felt like a symbol of transformation, urging me to step forward boldly in my healing journey rather than keeping it tucked quietly in the background of my life. It felt like the universe whispering, You’re ready.
As I began to trust this guidance, the cinnabar moth naturally wove itself into my Reiki practice. During self-healing and client sessions, I found myself visualizing its wings unfurling, their colour and movement supporting energy flow from root to crown. Sometimes I paired this imagery with crystals, letting their energy amplify the grounding and clarity I was calling in.
This simple symbol—unexpected, yet powerful—became a touchstone. A reminder that healing is both earthly and spiritual. That transformation doesn’t have to be loud; it can be gentle, intuitive, and deeply personal. That signs often appear exactly when we need them, if we’re willing to see them.
Over time, the cinnabar moth has become more than a beautiful creature I once encountered—it has become a teacher. A companion. A reminder to be brave, to stay rooted, and to honour the cycles of becoming that shape us.
It is the inspiration behind The Winged Cinnabar and the energy I strive to bring into every session: grounded, transformative, and guided by the quiet wisdom of nature.
